What is Golden Teacher?
Golden Teacher (also known as Psilocybe Aurumescens) is a classic, robust cubensis variety known for its large, golden to honey-colored caps (often up to 5 cm) and thick, ivory-colored stems. The name refers both to the warm golden hue of the cap and to the profound, enlightening insights that users often experience.
This strain is relatively easy to grow, grows quickly and yields reliable yields. A 1200 cc kit yields an average of 300–400 grams of fresh mushrooms over 2–3 flushes at a temperature of 20–25 °C. The effects are powerful but balanced: vivid visuals, euphoria, creativity and strong introspection. Store the kit cool (2–4 °C) until use for optimal shelf life (up to approximately 6 months).
History of Golden Teacher
The exact origins of Golden Teacher are somewhat mysterious. The strain emerged in the psychedelic community in the late 80s, presumably in the Florida region or the Gulf Coast of the USA, and spread rapidly through growers.
The name “Golden Teacher” originated from the characteristic golden hats and the reputation that these mushrooms can provide deep life lessons and spiritual insights. Unlike many other strains, there is no exact documentation of the first discovery, but through word-of-mouth advertising and successful selection, Golden Teacher grew into a worldwide classic. The arrival of ready-to-grow kits made the strain accessible to home growers and strengthened its status as the “teacher” among the cubensis varieties.
How do you use Golden Teacher?
Growing is easy and suitable for beginners. Wash your hands thoroughly, clean the outside of the kit and fill it with lukewarm water (20 °C). Let it soak for a maximum of 5 minutes (never longer than 1 hour). Drain well, place the kit in the supplied grow bag, add 200–250 ml lukewarm water and close the bag with the paperclips.
Place the bag in a place of 20–25 °C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the bag closed until the first pinheads appear (usually 10–20 days). Air the bag daily and mist lightly. Harvest just before the veil beneath the cap breaks by gently turning and pulling out the mushroom completely. Repeat the process for subsequent flushes.
For consumption: start low.
- Microdosing: ± 0.25 g dried
- Light trip: 1 g
- Normal trip: 1.5–2 g
- Strong trip: 2–3 g
Use in a safe, quiet setting.
